Skio email notifications

  • Updated

Overview

  • Skio offers free email and 1-way SMS notifications for different subscription-related events
  • SkioSMS is a separate, 2-way subscription management tool (learn more here)
  • Most merchants will use the Skio <> Klaviyo integration for emails and send SMS notifications via Skio (it's free!)

How do I customize notifications in Skio?

Step 1: Open the Notifications page

  1. In your Skio Dashboard, go to Tools > Notifications.

  2. Select any notification to edit:
Notification name Description
Order confirm / subscription management reminder Confirm an order and/or remind subscribers how to log in to the subscription management portal.
Billing reminder Remind subscribers X days before their next renewal (includes free prepaid renewals).
Billing attempt failure Nudge customers to update their payment method.
Skip order Sent after a subscriber skips a subscription order.
Cancel subscription Sent after a subscription is canceled.
Set next order date / edit interval Sent after the next subscription order date is edited.
User info edit Sent after customer information is updated.
Surprise & Delight – Product Sent when a surprise and delight free gift is applied to a subscription.
Surprise & Delight – Discount Sent when a surprise and delight discount is applied to a subscription.
Prepaid gift received Sent after the recipient receives a prepaid gift.

Step 2: Review and edit email notifications

  • Emails are sent from your Skio email address.

  • To change this address, go to Settings > General, then update the From email field.

  • You can customize the subject line, content, and timing for each email.

Step 3: Review and edit text notifications

  • Texts are sent from your store’s phone number.

  • This number is predefined and used by SkioSMS.

  • You can update the text content and choose when messages are sent.

Use consistent tone and branding across emails and texts to improve customer trust and reduce confusion.

What's inside the email notifications?

  • In each email notification, you will find:
    • Dynamic variables that will auto-populate specific information tied to the customer
    • Quick action variables which can be created at any time in the Quick action ta
    • A customizable subject line
    • A toggle to enable the notification
    • A preview section to see how your message will be received by the subscriber
    • Sending history to search if a customer has received that notification in the past
  • The body of the message:
    • Is HTML-based and merchants can upload an HTML template with custom styling
    • We recommend styling the message and maintaining consistent brand language
    • If you want to have this email send through Klaviyo, disable the notification entirely to avoid duplicates
